Denim on Denim
For a long time wearing denim on denim was a huge fashion ‘don’t’. ..referred to as the “Canadian tuxedo” To attempt it was to commit style suicide, but like all things fashion, when done right, you can make it work. It’s still not easy – but it is possible and our Creative Director will walk you through some tips to help navigate the nuances of pulling it off, and how it passes for a true luxury dress shirt.
The most important thing to remember when pairing denim with denim is to vary the shade of the washes you’re putting together. Never match the shade of indigo. Aim for a visibly different look. Like raw with a heavy stonewash or medium wash with bleached denim. We paired a dark wash jean with ourchambray tuxedo shirt. Both styles on our website will work with dark denim, stone washed, or bleached, or white denim. Denim shorts are also making a comeback this spring, just make sure the color is contrasting our shirt. Another thing most guys don’t consider is how distressed your shorts are compared to your shirt. Ripped and really torn? Save them for a tee shirt, henley, or casual sweater. You want the aesthetics to match the shirt otherwise you’ll look like you were dressing for two different occasions. Footwear is easy. Low-top clean trainers, boat shoes, a clean leather sandal (and pedicured toes), loafers, or brogues will complete the look effortlessly.
