The key to pulling off casual style is to keep it modern, honest, and know what you’re comfortable in. To make that stylish and attractive all the time, you need to know the essential wardrobe and styling tips and tricks. Everyone wants to look cool and smart without a suit but not everyone knows how to make that happen. At some point, we’ve all stared at our closet and thought ‘I have nothing to wear’ even if we have a full wardrobe.
Being aware of how to pull off causal style is a real art, and below are a few useful tips that can save you money and time and polish your looks to perfection without trying too hard. Here are some tips to give you the best chance to express your style!
Rolling Your Shirt Sleeves
Always remember, it’s the little things that make a difference.
Depending on which Treffort shirt you buy, some may have contrast fabrics under the collar like our our Flannel Check Navy Blue which you can cuff once and expose the contrast fabric underneath for a pop of color and detail.
If you are wearing a sweater or cardigan over one of our shirts and you want to roll the sleeves make sure it’s a finer gauge sweater so it doesn’t get too bulky. When you cuff the shirt it should go above the sweater and stop around mid-forearm…stay below your elbow.
- Fully extended your sleeves and cuffs unbuttoned.
- Depending on how thick your arms are, you can keep the placket button closed so your cuffed sleeves will stay in place, if you need the room unbutton the sleeve placket as well.
- Bend the sleeve at the cuff, fold it upward and over itself until it’s inside out.
- Straighten the bottom and top of the rolled cuff ensuring there are no creases.
- Don’t cuff the sleeve more than 3 times.
Layer It Up
Different items work differently when you wear them on top of each other. It’s all about the way they offer contrasts and compliments in texture and fabrics. Layering makes your outfit more exciting and adaptable if the weather changes.
Layering is a long way toward classing up your casual look. Thoughtful layering separates the men from the boys when it comes to casual fashion. At Treffort Shirts, we have perfect printed shirts that will make you look good in any sweater you want to pair them with. Just make sure a color from the shirt is picked up in the sweater for color coordination.
Button-down collars look great with cardigans because the collar is sure to say inside the sweater edge.
Spread collar Geometric Shirts work really well with solid color v-necks and shawl collar sweaters because their necklines keep the dress shirt neat under the sweater.
For a winter vibe try a fine cashmere or merino turtleneck underneath one of our flannels for your next fire pit or ski weekend.
